Where & When
Royal Academy of Arts, the Hague, 2009
Information
Supervised by Dutch graphic designer Gert Dumbar, we had the assignment to design a poster based on the daily news. Inspiration was provided by headlines, but also by background stories. For instance, the rainbow colored cross swastika was inspired a homosexual right-wing Christian party leader in Austria, Jorg Haider. The meshing gears were inspired by the credit crisis: countries in the Middle East were excercising their financial influence by buying stocks in American companies – connected, and certainly not independent from each other. One could replace the moon by a Chinese flag these days.
The posters were exhibited in the atrium Royal Academy of Arts, The Hague in February 2009. In addition, a catalog was published.
